Prep Time!

I’ll be spending most of today trying to wrap things up and pack things up for this weekend’s journey. I’ll be flying up to Chicago tomorrow morning that I may enjoy 24 straight hours of marginal fare at Northwestern University’s annual B-Fest.

It’s a time of conflict for me. On the one hand, there’ll be people I only get to see once a year (if that); visiting with them is my favorite part of the trip. The dark side is the increasing popularity of B-Fest; last year’s sold out a half-hour after the doors opened, and this year the event sold out the day advance tickets went on sale. I have a nervous condition, apparently inherited from my grandmother, which renders me very claustrophobic in crowds. It will be time to, as we tell my son so often, “Cowboy up.”

See you next week, if I survive.

  1. Have a great time for all of us who can’t go, and write about it for us, too!

  2. Buck up, doc. I’ll see you on Friday.

Oh, and I’ll have a Discman handy to ID those cover songs if you still want to do that.

  3. See, that’s why I’m not going. I’m trying to alleviate your fear of crowds with my absence. I just give, and give, and give… That’s the kind of guy I am.

  4. Well…I cannot make it because at Technicolor we’re currently pushing ALONE IN THE DARK out the door to theatres, making my “a valuable asset to the office, a real morale booster” (according to my last review…that could probably be loosely translated as, “We don’t care if you have a “life” outside of work…just do it. Here’s some glad-handing to smooth it over. Bee-yotch.”).

    Waitaminnit.

I AM contributing to B-Fest, simply by making sure every booking on ALONE makes it to theatres. That way, many people actually see Dr. Boll’s latest “film”, universally panning it….and then there’s more fodder for FUTURE B-fests.

(cue Elton John’s “Circle of Life”)

Suddenly….I am one with the Universe.
